Paper Towers
In Te Ngahere we have been learning how to make paper towers. We used two pieces of newspaper and 30 cm of tape. I learnt that the only way that you can make a big tower is by making it stand in the air. The the hardest thing to do was finding ideas to build our newspaper towers. We all built them straight because it was the easiest way to make it. We were good at working together and making it work. Please try to give feedback.

Project Energize
On Tuesday we went to the project energize and we got to make some hummus. Because I was up to date with my work, Gina picked me. At first I didn’t know what to do. I put in a bit more spice for taste then had to put in peanut butter and chickpeas. Mine was very spicy. We all liked it. I had a try and I thought it was good too. I liked it. I learnt about healthy food and I also learnt that chickpeas make hummus.
DLO
In Te Ngahere we have making a Digital Learning Object (DLO) with strategies. I have been practising subtraction with borrowing. I use this strategy because it is so easy and I use this with hundreds. So basically if the bottom numbers are bigger than the top then you have to borrow from your neighbour because if i had 2-9 you can’t do that, so cross-out your neighbour’s number, turn that to one number below and add the one onto the two which will make it 12. Take away 9 so there you go you can do it now. I am still working on my DLO . I will try to get it done ASAP and post it on my blog.

He Aha Tenei
We have been learning Te Reo Maori. We did a google slide about what is this and that is something for example He Aha Tenei? he Puka Puka tena? That means that is a book. I enjoyed doing it and learning more maori words. so I can learn it not just in school but at home to. The hardest thing would be trying to remember the words.

Whea Stella
On monday Whea Stella came to our school. She said one thing. It was that we are all special.
She showed us some really cool things like how they have put down heaps of traps for the pests. So then good things are not dying. Did you know that each day stoats kill 40 Kiwi when they haven't done anything wrong. They kill rabbits so they jump on their back and then they bite their spine and then they stop and then die slowly. We were watching videos of what they did with the animals. Seeing if the kiwis are big enough then they get sent somewhere else. If they’re small then they get named and then they get sent back to the forest. She showed us rats, possums, stoats, weasels and also a wild cat. A taxidermist had stuffed them. What I think I could do better next time would be putting my hand up and asking a question or two and not being shy.
